Family Findr ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Family Findr mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information to provide the App’s features:

1.1 Account and Contact Information

• Full Name, Email, and Phone Number: Collected when you create an account to identify and authenticate you.
• Trusted Contacts: You may provide the full names, email addresses, and phone numbers of trusted contacts to share location data with them.
• User ID: A unique identifier created for your account to manage your data and interactions.

1.2 Location Information

• Type of Data: Precise GPS-based location (latitude, longitude, and timestamps).
• When Collected: When the App is in use (foreground only), if you enable location permissions.
• Purpose: To share your location with trusted contacts, display your location history, and convert coordinates to addresses.

1.3 Push Notification Tokens

• Type of Data: Device tokens for sending notifications.
• Purpose: To send alerts, such as location requests.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Manage your account and trusted contacts.
• Share your location with trusted contacts and show their locations to you.
• Send push notifications for location updates.
• Convert location coordinates into readable addresses (reverse geocoding).

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information as follows:

• Trusted Contacts: Your location data is shared with trusted contacts who have accepted your invitation, and vice versa, to enable location sharing.
• Third-Party Services: We use trusted providers to support the App, including:
  • Firebase: For analytics, crash reporting, and data storage.
  • Expo: For sending push notifications.
  • Location Services (e.g., Apple or Google Maps APIs): For temporarily processing coordinates to convert them into addresses.
• Legal Requirements: We may share data to comply with laws, such as responding to law enforcement requests.

4. Data Storage and Security

We store your data securely using encryption and access controls. All data, including location data, is stored in Germany, as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all of your data is deleted instantly.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can control your data by:

• Location Permissions: Disable location access in your device settings (this may limit location-sharing features).
• Push Notifications: Disable notifications in your device settings or the App.
• Data Access/Deletion: Delete your data by deleting your account.

If you’re in the EU or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, such as accessing, correcting, or deleting your data.
